Medical Imaging

In some cases, we recommend taking x-rays before developing a neck pain treatment plan. Medical images allow us to develop a better idea of exactly what’s wrong with your neck. For instance, we may identify a subluxation on an x-ray. A subluxation is a misaligned vertebrae, or spinal bone, which can result in pain. Subluxations often result from chronic poor posture. We take all x-rays onsite for your convenience.

Chiropractic Adjustments for Text Neck

If you do have a subluxation in your neck, we can perform cervical spinal adjustments. Chiropractors use very gentle techniques for cervical (upper spine) spinal adjustments. We may use manual traction, which involves gently stretching the cervical spine. Cervical mobilization may also be appropriate for you. This involves gently maneuvering the vertebra with various smooth motions.

Lifestyle Modification Counseling

However, we can help you learn how to modify the way in which you use your phone. For example, getting into the habit of holding your device up to eye level can prevent you from hanging your head forward.

Corrective Exercises

We can also demonstrate corrective stretches and exercises for your neck. These can heal your neck and also reduce the likelihood that you’ll develop text neck again. One effective stretch is the chin tuck. Sit upright and tuck your chin backward so that it forms a double chin. Your chin and nose should continue to face forward, with no downward angle. Try to hold this position for five seconds.
